Why we need to fundraise

This year Queen Victoria School celebrates 100 years of educating the children of soldiers, sailors and airmen in Scotland. QVS is a unique school providing first class educational and pastoral stability for the children of serving personnel, for whom the prospect of continued operational service has never been greater. The students and staff all understand the risks and uncertainties faced by parents in the Armed Services. This leads to a level of peer and staff support which could not be offered in any other environment.

Forces life requires no explanation at QVS and the school is entirely supportive of families, where a parent may be serving in the most difficult environments. In providing support for those servicemen and servicewomen, QVS plays a vital role in adding value to supporting the services.

The public face of QVS is well-known to many both in Scotland and worldwide. It has given the children of those serving in the Armed Services access to aspects of Scottish culture that would otherwise be very difficult. This is achieved through sport, music, dance and the wide range of cultural events that have been developed within the school, including high-profile, national events.

Although essentials are taken care of by the Ministry of Defence, we rely more and more on the generosity and good will of the general public to give our pupils a truly excellent educational experience. Any donation large or small will directly benefit the children, enhancing their school life.
